Early Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy

There are some symptoms that women experience during first two weeks of pregnancy. You may feel them or may not experience them at all. If you do not feel these symptoms you will surely undergo them in the coming weeks. The most obvious sign of ovulation is mild cramping either on one or both sides.

You may find an increased amount of clear discharge during your most fertile time. When it is abundant and slippery you are at the peak of ovulation and greatest chance of conceiving. Fertile cervical mucous is often clear and stretchy.

Others ways of indicating whether you are at a fertile time period is looking at your body basal temperature. Monitor your temperature after 1st and 2nd week of your menstrual cycle. During the first two weeks the temperature should be lower than the normal between 97 – 97.5 Fahrenheit. During ovulation it rises to 0.4 to 0.6 Fahrenheit due to increased production of progesterone.   If you are successful in conceiving at 2 weeks during pregnancy, your body temperature will actually remain slightly elevated for the duration of your pregnancy.

To monitor the results use basal thermometer and it is best to use in the morning before getting up from the bed.

A women’s most fertile time period is few days before ovulation and a second week after your last period. You can tell your peak fertilization period if you chart your cycle properly.

Once you have ovulated, the chances of you becoming pregnant increases. Many women do not experience pregnancy symptoms after 10-14 days after ovulation, though some have reported as early after their conception. Usual symptoms of pregnancy are:

  • Increased fatigue
  • Missed period
  • Nausea
  • Breast tenderness
  • Frequent need to urinate
  • Metallic taste in mouth
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Increased temperature that remains elevated after ovulation
